MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Light, Gas and Water is asking its customers to conserve water.

Burst pipes are leading to low water pressure for those who get their water from MLGW.

MLGW has repaired 27 broken water mains since Sunday and are working on two more as of Thursday morning.

MLGW asks commercial and industrial customers who do not use water to produce goods and services to limit their use to about 75% of their typical usage.

If you have a leak or broken pipe, call 544-6549 for assistance.

MLGW also asks that customers cease dripping their faucets as soon as temperatures go above freezing.

These tips are suggested to help conserve water:

  • If you wash dishes by hand, don’t leave the water running for rinsing.
  • Don’t let the faucet run while you clean vegetables and other foods. Delay washing clothes or operating your dishwasher.
  • Take short showers.
  • Plug the sink to capture enough water for your shave instead of continuously running the water.
