2nd ex-officer in Tyre Nichols’ death files motion to move federal trial outside Shelby Co.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - One of the five former Memphis police officers who is charged in the murder of Tyre Nichols, is requesting a change of venue.

According to court documents, Demetrius Haley wants to move his federal trial to a venue that has not been “infected by the media.”

He is requesting his trial to be outside of Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Lauderdale Counties.

According to the court documents, attorneys for Haley are asking for the trial to be moved to the Western District of Jackson, Tennessee.

The documents also show that attorneys want the jurors sequestered during the trial.

Back in June, Tadarrius Bean filed a motion requesting a separate trial in the same case.

Prosecutors released an opposition to Bean’s request, in a document filed on January 18:
