TRENTON, Tenn. (WMC) - Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas along with District Attorney Frederick Agee have requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation after an officer-involved shooting occurred Friday.

According to the TBI, the shooting occurred around 11:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Eldad Road in Trenton while deputies attempted to serve a search warrant.

Agee says Deputy Joshua Johnson, a seven-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, and the suspect were both shot. Both were airlifted to local hospitals for treatment.

The sheriff’s office says Deputy Johnson sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time.
