MLGW lifts electric conservation alert
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - MLGW and TVA are no longer asking customers to conserve energy amid freezing temperatures.
The voluntary request was made reduce the likelihood of brownouts and blackouts.
MLGW says their systems have performed well in the cold, and they will continue to watch for impacts to the water system because of the extended cold spell.
“We have seen a record high demand across the TVA system at 8 o’clock this morning, highest we’ve ever seen,” said MLGW CEO Doug McGowen. “But, it was actually lower than what they had forecast, so what that tells us is that the conservation methods across the Tennessee Valley worked.”
Customers should still continue to drip their faucets and protect their pipes during freezing temperatures.
