Bedside snow: Young boy with cerebral palsy gets snow brought to his room at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - For many kids, snow days are an opportunity to make snow angels, build snowmen, and enjoy all the fun that comes with no school.
However, not every child is afforded this chance. Children like Kaydon Gilliam who had to spend these snowy days inside due to his condition.
Gilliam was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, an illness that affects his ability to walk around freely without assistance.
He was also recovering from back surgery that will help restore some of his motor functions and movement in the future.
Despite being inside, Gilliam was given a sweet gift by his nurses—since Kaydon couldn’t go outside to play in the snow they brought the snow to him!
One of the nurses even played football with him.
Kaydon’s mom says that Le Bonheur has made the stay there a lot easier on her and Kaydon.
In addition to dealing with his diagnosis, Kaydon recently lost his grandmother to breast cancer who was like his best friend.
Kaydon’s story is a strong testament to the power of kindness. One kind act can really change the trajectory of a person’s life.
