Arrest made in Mt. Moriah Road gas station shooting, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An arrest was made in a Mount Moriah gas station shooting, according to Memphis Police Department.

Christopher Williams, 23, is charged with criminal attempt first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and employment of a firearm during the commission to commit a dangerous felony.

On Oct. 5, 2022, at 8:15 p.m. officers responded to the shooting at a Shell gas station located on Mount Moriah Road.

The victim told officers that he was meeting an acquaintance at the gas station to purchase marijuana.

He told police that a man approached his vehicle, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded all of his belongings.

According to the affidavit, the victim refused so the man shot him.

The victim was then taken to the hospital in critical condition from his injuries.

The victim told investigators the man had taken his iPhone, and that he met the suspect on a dating website and visited him on several occasions.

On Oct. 6, 2022, the victim positively identified Williams in a six-person photograph as the person responsible for shooting him and taking his iPhone.
