MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - People from across the world gathered at Graceland on Monday to honor Elvis Presley’s 89th birthday.

The annual birthday celebrations included a proclamation from Memphis and Shelby County leaders and the unveiling of Presley’s first commercial recording in the form of an acetate that will be the newest attraction at Graceland.

Multiple people from around the globe were present, including an Elvis Presley tribute artist from Switzerland, Mike Fitzner.

“He changed my life completely when I was seven years old,” Fitzner explained. “To be an Elvis tribute artist for me is very special because I can keep up the legacy of Elvis and make people happy. When I do a show people are smiling and happy, and that’s what I want.

The 2024 birthday celebration livestream can be viewed on Graceland’s website.
