(CNN) – A lawn in Australia has been named the “ugliest in the world,” and it’s all for a good cause.

Most would agree that Kathleen Murray’s lawn in Sandford, Tasmania, is ugly, dry and unkempt.

However, it’s exactly what organizers were looking for when they launched the contest for the “World’s Ugliest Lawn.”

The call went out on the official website for Gotland Sweden.

People from around the world were invited to post pictures of their dehydrated grass to social media.

The goal, to influence people to use less water, draws attention to water scarcity resulting from climate change and change the norm for green lawns, which require huge amounts of water to maintain.

Murray won a certificate and a recycled t-shirt proclaiming her as “proud owner of the world’s ugliest lawn.”
