(Gray News) - A company is recalling bags of spinach along with several salad kits due to a possible listeria contamination.

The Food and Drug Administration reported BrightFarms is recalling products that contain spinach grown from their supplier Element Farms. It was reported the spinach may have come in contact with listeria monocytogenes.

Bags of the company’s baby spinach are affected by the recall, along with four of their salad kits, BrightFarms Mediterranean Crunch Kit, BrightFarms Chickpea Caesar Crunch Kit, BrightFarms Bacon Ranch Crunch Kit and BrightFarms Southwest Chipotles.

The products were distributed to retailers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

There have been no reported illnesses connected to the affected products.

Listeria infection can cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, headache and nausea in healthy individuals. The infection can be more serious or even fatal for young children, elderly people and those with a weakened immune system.

Customers are advised to not eat the affected products and to discard them. They can also provide proof of purchase to the retailer they bought it from for a full refund.
