Friday Football Fever returns for 2023
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Friday Football Fever is back for 2023! Action News 5 has you covered with the top games around the Mid-South to celebrate the return of high school football in 2023.
The Game of the Week for week 1 was Bartlett vs MUS, and the Owls put on a dominant display with a 37-0 shutout victory. MUS forced five turnovers in the first half, including two pick-sixes. Starting quarterback Brady Hughes rushed for two touchdowns, and running back Tee Perry ran one in as well.
Senior Makhi Shaw had the play of the night, with a 78-yard interception returned for a touchdown in the second quarter.
“Man getting that pick-six, it really felt like I could contribute something and carry over from last year,” said Shaw. “Getting that pick-six showed my team that we could all do it, we can all do it, we can all eat.”
“I think we made a pretty good statement in the Memphis area to stop underestimating us,” said Hughes. “I mean, we’re a pretty sound team this year. So, I’m excited to see how it goes the rest of the year.”
Other finals from Friday’s action include:
