MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The 2024 Race for Reconciliation is postponed due to the threat of dangerously low temperatures and snow on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The race was originally scheduled for Monday, January 15, at the Halloran Center at the Orpheum in Downtown Memphis.

“Race for Reconciliation gathers annually to inspire Memphians to do the daily work to bring healing, honor, and hope to our city while raising dollars to close the education gap in Memphis,” reads the event’s website. “Given the weather front predicted to come through Sunday and Monday with dangerously low temperatures, we will not be able to accomplish our important goal on this day.”

The event has been rescheduled for Labor Day, September 2.
